The Christian Academy of Language and Learning (CALL) is a Spanish language school that is a ministry of the SENDAS (Nazarene Seminary of the Americas). The school started in the fall of 2009 and has experienced continued growth each year.

Currently, CALL serves university students from MidAmerica (MNU) and Point Loma Nazarene Universities (PLNU), as well as professionals and missionary volunteers. Pastors on sabbatical and teachers on break who want to improve their knowledge of Spanish are some examples of CALL students.

In April, CALL hosted two student teachers from MNU who not only studied Spanish with CALL but also completed their student teaching experience in a Costa Rican private school called International Christian School. This is the third semester for the collaboration between MNU’s School of Education and CALL. So far, ten MNU students have benefited from the cultural experience of teaching and learning in Costa Rica.

In May and June, eight students from Point Loma Nazarene University arrived along with their Spanish Professor, Dr. Scott Bennett and the University Coordinator, Rebecca Harver. This program offered PLNU students the opportunity to complete eight credit hours in Basic Spanish (101 and 102) in nine weeks. The students attend class for 3 hours daily and enjoy weekly field trips and weekend activities.

CALL offers classes on the SENDAS campus and online, offering a way for anyone and everyone to learn Spanish at their own pace.
