For many years we could only dream that one day we would have students studying from Cuba through our virtual platform. The possibility that they could connect in real time via videoconference seemed like an even more distant dream. But through God’s providence, little by little the conditions on the island have been changing. The internet is progressively becoming more common in the country, and despite the fact that there are still many limitations, Cubans are seeing a new world of possibilities come to fruition.

Elín Miranda, one of our many outstanding SENDAS students, has followed God’s call fueled by her strength of character, in fulfilling her dreams and ours. Elín has successfully completed the first course of the Certificate in Worship online and has even been able to connect to the live conference we had with program mentor Danilo Montero (pastor of the Hispanic congregation at Lakewood Church in Houston, and award-winning worship artist).

Rev. Andrés Fernández, program coordinator, commented: “It has been a privilege as coordinator of this new Certificate in Worship to collaborate with Elín so that she could access these studies. It’s a true pleasure to be her teacher during this first course on Biblical and Theological Foundations of Worship,” which marks a new chapter for SENDAS and all our students in Cuba.»

Elín Miranda put it this way: “I never thought it was possible to study online. It has been quite a challenge due to the limitations of internet connection that we have in Cuba, but finishing the first course has been an productive and wonderful experience! I thank God for the opportunity the Nazarene Seminary of the Americas gave me by admitting me to participate in the Certificate in Worship and the support I am receiving to continue.”
