Since the first month of the year, SENDAS has been training the coordinators and professors in the use of the videoconference equipment. The trainings were offered on three different dates:  January 26, February 9, and March 9.

There were many educational centers represented including Mexico City, Xalapa (Veracruz), Tuxtla Gutierrez (Chiapas), Coban (Guatemala), El Salvador, Ecuador, Peru, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Panama and Costa Rica. There were a total of 55 participants present.

The training was given in two areas.  The technical area was led by Andres Fernandez who shared about the Videoconference manual and the proper use of the equipment.  Dr. Ruben Fernandez spoke about the educational aspects and the new tools available to the faculty who teach with the various programs.

The purpose of the training was to improve the quality of education and to empower our professors and assistants who work with the virtual classrooms.  The educational centers for the Master’s program as well as for the Bachelor degree and the Course of Study program (Costa Rica and Panama) were all in attendance.

SENDAS held a retreat for the Course of Study program on March 7-9.  The center coordinators, along with professors and assistants in the School of Leadership program attended the training, which included representation from the North and Central districts of Costa Rica and the West and Central districts of Panama. The leaders received training in educational objectives, planning, the profile of a professor, online education and the organization and registration for the School of Leadership.

Additionally, the Costa Rican Bible Society, with whom SENDAS has an agreement for library access, explained the use of the digital libraries that will make available many resources for the professors and students of SENDAS.

The event participants were very satisfied with the workshops and for the opportunity to share with colleagues from other countries and districts.

For SENDAS it is a blessing to train and equip our coordinators and professors so all can continue offering the highest level of theological education.
