During May 9, 10 and 11, the Second Wesleyan Writers Development Workshop for the Church of the Nazarene in Mesoamerica was held at the SENDAS campus in San José, Costa Rica. There were 40 participants, including pastors and leaders representing six districts of Nicaragua, Panama and Costa Rica.

The purpose of the meeting was to develop Wesleyan writers who can produce articles, lessons for Spanish Sunday School curriculum, and basic books, among other materials. It sought to awaken the passion for writing, support and help the professional growth of writers, as well as enrich the denomination through new authors.

Rev. Scott Stargel of Global Publications led several sessions in the meeting and his office contributed financially to the accommodations and food of the attendees.

The regional communications team assisted in several areas including audio and video recording for later dissemination.

The general coordinator of the topics was Dr. Mónica Mastronardi de Fernández, writer and general editor for Mesoamerica of the School of Leadership Program. She led several of the workshops.

Dr. Frank Moore, general editor of the denomination, shared two workshops. Three district superintendents were present, Rev. Sirlene Bustos (Costa Rica Central), Maria Antonia Ponce, and Rev. Carlos de la Cruz, as well as regional director Dr. L. Carlos Sáenz, the ministries coordinator for Costa Rica, Dr. Jorge Baños and Wilfredo Marciaga, coordinator of literature for the region.

Dr. Elías Betanzos, pastor of the CAP Church of the Nazarene of Oaxaca Mexico, shared an excellent presentation via videoconference that inspired a good time of questions and answers.

Dr. Rubén Fernández, education and pastoral development coordinator, said about the meeting: «As in Oaxaca, the presence of God was real among us and reaffirmed that we are on the right path. Our desire is to form a regional network of Wesleyan writers to keep us in touch and permanent growth. We are grateful to God and to all those who made this event possible, which was undoubtedly a great enriching experience. Our goal is to take this meeting now to the North Central Area. To God be the glory!»
