Rubén and Mónica Fernández are originally from Argentina. Rubén has served as the Rector of SENDAS since 1995. The Fernández’ began their ministry as pastors (1982-1990), and later as professors in theological education for different institutions (1986-1990) in their country. Rubén served as Academic Dean at the South American Nazarene Seminary (1990-1995) in Pilar, Argentina. Both are ordained as elders in the Church of the Nazarene.
Rubén served as Director for MAC South (Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama) during 2000-2002, in addition to being the Seminary President. He currently serves as the Regional Coordinator of Education and Pastoral Development for the Mesoamerica Region. Since 1998, he has served as the Theological Education Regional Coordinator for the Mexico, Central America and Panama (MAC), which is now the Mesoamerica Region. Dr. Fernández has been a conference speaker on five continents, and as a professor he specializes in the topics of leadership and church administration.
Mónica serves as the General Editor of the School of Leadership Program for the Mesoamerica Region and contributes to special projects at SENDAS. Before, she served as the librarian, the administrative assistant to the President, and as the Vice President for Institutional Development at SENDAS. She teaches courses in discipleship, leadership, and church debelopment at all levels of the theological education. Dra. Mónica has various publications including the well-known Basic Descipleship Lessons, which have been translated into twenty languages and dialects in which the Church of the Nazarene ministers.
Dr. Fernández has a Bachelor degree in Christian Ministry from the South American Nazarene Seminary in Argentina, a Bachelor in Theology from the Nazarene University, Costa Rica, a License degree in Church Resources Management from the Evangelical University of the Americas, Costa Rica, a Master’s degree in Religion with mention in Missiology from the Evangelical University of the Americas, Costa Rica and a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri, USA.
Dra. Fernández has a Bachelor degree in Theology from Nazarene University, Costa Rica, a License degree in Church Administration from the Evangelistic University of the Americas, Costa Rica, a Master’s degreee in Religion with emphasis in Missiology from the Evangelical University of the Americas, Costa Rica and a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. USA.
Currently, Rubén and Mónica are candidates in the Doctoral Program (PhD.) with PRODOLA and the Evangelical University of the Americas, broadening their horizons and enriching their ministries and the faculty at SENDAS.
They have two sons: Juan Manuel and Andrés, and three grandchildren: Diego, Dalia and Aleia.
