This year, more than 135 ministers on the Mesoamerica Region have been trained in the three Continuing Education courses for Pastors connecting with an average of 14 remote sites.

The purpose of the courses is to make continuing education easy for the pastors of the Region, helping them to complete the requirements of the Church of the Nazarene. By teaching the courses by videoconference, we can have the highest level of professors who are committed to the vision of training with excellence the highest number of ministers possible. Each course included ten class hours.

Dr. Samuel Perez taught the first of the three courses in the months of February and March: Having a Healthy and Healing Pastorate. This course spoke about the necessity to take care of ourselves as pastors to be able to have a healthy ministry.

Contemporary Challenges to the Pastorate in the Latin America Context, taught by Dr. Jorge Julca, was the second course and was taught in August. Latin America is a continent of contrasts with a changing society. The course challenged all to minister in new ways to be effective today.

The last course of the year was Changes that Invigorate the Church with speaker Rev. Daron Brown who is the author of the book Shift: How Nine Churches Experienced Vibrant Renewal. This course was about the changes that pastors and congregations have made to experience a renewal and be transformed into vibrant churches.

One time per week on the scheduled date, the groups connected by Adobe Connect or videoconference and in this way many of the centers in Costa Rica, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Panama, Nicaragua and the United States had the opportunity to attend the class.

Dr. Ruben Fernandez shares: I am thankful to God for allowing SENDAS to collaborate with the Holy Spirit in this work of edifying our pastors and churches. We had three world class professors this year who shared not only their theoretical knowledge, but also their personal experiences in relation to the chosen topic. Thanks Samuel, Jorge and Daron for taking the time to holistically train our leaders on the Mesoamerica Region!

SENDAS feels a great commitment to continue training at the highest level the most ministers possible for the building of God’s kingdom.
