The Nazarene Seminary of the Americas has had many graduates go on to complete wonderful accomplishments in their ministries. SENDAS has former students who are now serving as missionaries, regional directors, district superintendents, as field strategy coordinators, and more.

This year, two students graduated from SENDAS who have excelled in leadership in their districts: Rev. Maria Antonia Ponce, Superintendent of the Nicaragua Central district, and Rev. Sirlene Bustos, Superintendent of the Costa Rica Central district. Rev. Ponce has served as the District Superintendent for eight years, and Rev. Bustos for nearly two years. Both have demonstrated leadership qualities that have allowed them each to be elected to these high ministry positions.

In the global Church of the Nazarene, there are only eight female district superintendents. There are three female superintendents in Africa, two in Eurasia and one in South America. We are extremely proud that two of these eight leaders serve on the Mesoamerica Region and are SENDAS graduates.

Rev. Ponce recently earned the Master’s degree in Religion with concentration in the Family Counseling with honors of Cum Laude. Rev. Bustos recently earned the Bachelor’s degree in Religion with concentration in Pastoral Theology with honors of Summa Cum Laude.

Not only have these two women served faithfully on their districts, but also they have both served as members of the SENDAS association board, which is a group of eight global representatives for the Seminary.

It is an honor to have these wonderful female leaders on the Mesoamerica district and as SENDAS graduates. The influence of these Godly women cannot be denied, and we pray that God would use them as they serve on their districts.
