From June 21 to 25 the Nazarene Seminary of the Americas was present in the Exhibit Hall of the General Assembly of the Church of the Nazarene in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. The General Assembly is held every four years for the global church and brings together thousands of Nazarenes from all corners of the globe.

There were six representatives for SENDAS at the event including President Dr. Ruben Fernandez, Monica Fernandez, Carol Rittenhouse, Andres Fernandez, Viria de Fernandez and Shelley Webb. Many alumni and friends of SENDAS passed by the booth to learn more about recent happenings at SENDAS, for example, the newest course offerings, Work and Witness opportunities, CALL Spanish courses and the School of Leadership book series.

On Saturday June 24, the Seminary celebrated the first ever SENDAS Gathering at the General Assembly.  This event was well-attended with nearly 90 participants including alumni, current students and friends of SENDAS, with a special group from the North California district who have recently formed a partnership with SENDAS.

Dr. Christian Sarmiento, Regional Director of the South America Region spoke to the crowd sharing how SENDAS made a difference in his life through the professors’ teaching and the relationships formed during those years.  Dr. Lebron Fairbanks shared about the impact that SENDAS has had on so many people through the years, forming pastors and leaders in the Church of the Nazarene and beyond.

At the SENDAS Gathering, a new campaign called Legacy Fund was launched. This Fund offers a way for alumni and friends of SENDAS to contribute to the ongoing needs of the institution.  You can learn more about how to be a founding partner of the SENDAS Legacy Fund by clicking here.

The event was so well-received that plans are already being made for a similar event in four years at the next General Assembly in 2021. See you there!
