On Friday, October 25, more than 140 people from Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and the USA gathered to celebrate the third annual LLAMADOS (meaning «called» in Spanish) conference under the theme “Called to Innovation.” Revs. Albert and Christine Hung from California, USA, were the speakers for the conference. Rev. Albert Hung is the Northern California District Superintendent.
The conference began with an opening service with a time of worship and a message by Rev. Albert Hung. On Saturday, October 26, the conference began with a time of devotions in the morning led by the new Costa Rica Central field strategy director, Rev. Carlos de la Cruz. After opening worship, Revs. Albert and Christine Hung shared a message during a plenary session. This year participants were given the opportunity to attend two workshops all covering various themes of innovation in the church. The conference ended with a panel discussion with the workshop leaders answering questions from participants.
The closing service for the conference was the celebration of the SENDAS graduation with the recognition of graduates as well as a message by Rev. Albert Hung. A meal followed the graduation ceremony. “It was an occasion of great joy and celebration,” said Rev. Carol Rittenhouse, of SENDAS public relations.
The vision for the LLAMADOS conferences is to offer to pastors and leaders on the Mesoamerica Region leadership training and pastoral support. SENDAS anticipates new opportunities in the future to teach, train and encourage the leadership of the Church of the Nazarene in Mesoamerica.
