Dr. Oziel Morais —a SENDAS alumnus— has recently been appointed Educational Coordinator for the Portuguese-speaking Field in the Africa Region of the Church of the Nazarene. He will have the responsibility of tightening the bond between the higher education institutions of the Church of the Nazarene in the field, energizing the process of creating a Higher Institute of Education capable of offering academic degrees and being a strategic ally in the education and development of pastors in the entire African region, among other projects.

Dr. Morais has a doctorate in Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Policy and Administration, both from UNICAMP (Brazil); a Master’s in Holistic Development of the Church from SENDAS (Costa Rica); a Degree in Pastoral Counseling from the South American University (Brazil) and a Theology Degrees from the Nazarene Seminaries of Cape Verde and Brazil. He is currently the Academic Director of Seminário Nazareno Cabo Verde and over the last four years he has served as National Director of Communication for the Cape Verde District. He is married to Nélida Morais and they are the parents of two children.

Nazarene Seminary of the Americas president, Dr. Rubén Fernández stated: “We sincerely congratulate Dr. Morais on his appointment. It is a privilege to know that once again, one of our graduates holds a prominent leadership position in the denomination. This reaffirms the teamwork of the entire SENDAS family. We continue forward, training with the greatest excellence the highest possible number of ministers for the extension of the kingdom of God.”

Dr. Morais said the following about SENDAS: “I am very grateful to all who have invested in me as teachers and mentors, and to SENDAS, for the scholarships provided. As we serve the Kingdom today, we owe a lot to your generosity and investment.”

We pray that in accordance to the vision God has given the leaders of the Africa Region, Dr. Dany Gomis, Regional Director, Dr. Gabriel Benjiman, Regional Education Coordinator, and Reverend Aderito Ferreira, Portuguese-speaking Field Strategy Coordinator, Dr. Morais’ ministry is fruitful and contributes to the educational development of the pastors and leaders of that great Nazarene region.
